A gorgeous Kansas City day for a gorgeous Kansas City Bride.  Saturday really pulled through and I was so excited to photograph Morgan and Jeff again.  We started at the Embassy Suites in Kansas City where Morgan and her bridesmaids were getting ready and putting on the finished touches for the day.

Kansas-City-wedding-ring-01.jpgWe then headed to The Villa in Kansas City to meet up with Jeff for the first time and start our day together.  The Villa was beautiful inside and out and Candace was an amazing coordinator.  There was plenty of natural light and the decor was so perfect for photography.  But, my favorite part was the patio with the overhead lights.  I want to be able to go chill there on a Thursday night with a quiet dinner.  And, the dinner would be amazing too.  All the food was made there from scratch!  yummy.

Kansas-City-The-Villa-01.jpgI loved the cream decor throughout and it made a perfect back drop for this wedding cake by Spectacular Cakes with flowers from Dutch Flowers.

wedding-cake-09.jpgWhile we were out taking some fun wedding portraits around the Kansas City Plaza area, we stopped by one of Morgan's favorite locations, the Nelson Art Museum.  The doors, the columns, the steps.  I can see why it's one of her favorite Kansas City spots and I love it too.

Aside from the heat, last Saturday was an amazing wedding on the KU campus and celebration at Maceli's in Lawrence, Kansas.  Elizabeth and Nick, along with the bridal party and groomsmen were in great spirits all day long as we trekked around the campus and town for some fun wedding photography.

Right before Elizabeth and Nick's first sight on their wedding day.
Lawrence-Kansas-wedding-photography-by-shutter-happy-studios-02.jpgI love these next two photos of Nick, the groom, with his parents and the joy his parents are feeling during the wedding ceremony.  I always have more than a few favorite moments from every wedding I photograph and this first image is one of those!

The St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center is beautiful with plenty of light and architectural details.  It was a photographers dream.

And, it's always great when the wedding bridal party and groomsmen are having a fantastic time!  After the photos, we went to Maceli's for the reception with dinner and dancing.  Below is another favorite moment with Elizabeth and Nick sharing their first dance as husband and wife.

Congratulations!

Ok. So the title of this post really comes from the best man speech...which may have been one of the best speeches I've ever heard from a best man at a wedding.  So, great job!  Amanda and Alex made wedding photography look easy!  Amanda has these gorgeous eyes and both are so photogenic right along with the entire wedding party.  I have so many favorite things about this wedding.  First, Amanda and Alex are high school sweethearts.  You should have seen their slide show at the wedding reception.  It was like watching them grow up together.  Second, they had their ceremony and some wedding portraits taken on the Hill in St. Louis. The ceremony was at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. I love this area.  It has such history and charm...just like these two!  And, for the Sandwich King... we went to Alex's family business, Gioia's Deli, right after the wedding ceremony to begin our photography escapades which ended at their reception in Forest Park at the Clubhouse.  Third, while we were in Forest Park, Alex and Amanda boarded a canoe in the fountains at the Grand Basin very spontaneously.  It was a fabulous wedding day.  Some favorites,

I can hardly believe 6 months has come and gone.  And the rate of development that a baby goes through in the first year is so fun to experience.  In just the past month, Syd has had her first baby food and she loves it all...except maybe peas.  Bananas are her favorite.  She can sit up all on her own.  Traveled to Mexico and enjoyed her first vacation.  She has even mumbled the syllables, "Ma ma."  I swear!  Her character and personality are so adorable.  And, we may be biased, but Johnny and I think she is the best baby in the world.

Here's a couple quick snap shots.

I try to write her a letter every month about the things I love about her and how she is growing.  So, here's month 6.

Syd,

I love how happy you are at all times.  Your smile and laughter brighten our days. It's amazing to watch your little wheels start to turn as you play with a new toy or look at a new object.  You have the biggest, most beautiful eyes and you get compliments on them wherever we go.  I'm still thinking you may get your Daddy's green eyes but they may be turning brown also...  We think you are the best baby in the world and cherish every moment.  Your Dad and I feel so blessed to have you in our life and we constantly tell each other how cute you are and how much we love you.  I love to look at you when you sleep.  It's so peaceful and adorable. It's amazing to watch how fearless and determined you are when you're awake.  And, you're quick!  If you want something, you're going for it.  I'm loving how you love things too.  You love the water.  You could splash in a pool as long as we'll let you.  You love all the new foods we're introducing and get so excited when you get in your high chair.  I could go on and on.  Every day is something new and we love you.

Love always,
Mom & Dad
